My Dark Places by James Ellroy

Not knowing anything about this book other than the title, I feel that the cover evokes something dark. The use of the large image with the subject looking right to a smaller image of another subject creates a relationship between the two subjects. The kerning of the author's last name makes it still carry weight in comparison to the lengthier title. I think the limited palette of black, white, and red also creates a serious tone.

Bed Stuy

Marcos Navarro, an illustrator, created this pattern for Bed Stuy, an online fashion company. I really enjoy the winding nature of the illustration, it feels like every object is floating on water. I like the color choices, especially the weird mint-y green.

344 Loves You

The Saks Yeti

This is the cutest little guy ever! I loved seeing the sketches as the beginning on the project entry on 344's portfolio. The character design is so perfect, he's quirky in the best way possible. I had never thought about the process of designing a teddy bear or plush before, so this was a really interesting behind-the-scenes. It went far beyond just the plush, but corresponding content, like the booklet.

D&AD Festival 2017

The Beautiful Meme, based out of London, created this design identity for the D&AD Festival. Though the text is near illegible, the illegibility drew me in to decipher it. I like how the original identity changes into different designs with the chunky pencil.

Cyan

Sonification

This typographic poster by Cyan really caught my eye. I love the variation in line weights, and that most if not all of the text is vertical. I feel like the varying line weights is reminiscent of sound bars, which is appropriate as this is for a music festival.
